PHYSICAL TRAINING
Physical activity is critical to our children’s health and well-being. Studies show that physical activity helps kids stay active and healthy, as well as enhance essential skills like concentration and problem solving, which can improve academic performance. During the physical fitness phase of our camps,  youth are trained by physical fitness professionals. Youth are also taught the importance of healthy eating and exercise habits as we work with them to create a healthy diet and exercise plan, which will be monitored by our team throughout the year.

SELF DEFENSE TRAINING***
The ability to protect oneself physically from violence is a fundamental human right that should be reachable for everyone, including children and teenagers. Self-defense is an overlooked skill in our society, but it's vital. In an age when bullying in school is a huge problem, it's crucial to ensure that boys and girls can appropriately defend themselves if the situation requires it. Of course, physical self-defense is ALWAYS a last resort. The We Are 1 Movement's self-defense team consists of a team of (MMA) Mixed Martial Artists who teach our youth how to defuse potentially dangerous situations in several ways. Unfortunately, it is a very real possibility that they may at some point find themselves in a situation where they need to defend themselves physically. We prepare and train our youth for any potential scenario.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TRAINING
Our youth community engagement training consists of highly effective verbal and non-verbal communication coaching, peer-to-peer community engagement training, and how to be an effective leader in your community. Youth are trained through community engagement scripts and role-playing on how to communicate with the community effectively.

Conversing with community members from diverse backgrounds, ages and ethnicity immensely enhance our youths communication and leadership skills. Which immediately translates to youth becoming better communicators at home and in school.  It also allows youth to build genuine relationships within their community.

COMMUNITY CLEAN-UPS
There is mounting evidence that volunteering, participating in service projects, and other forms of community involvement are more than feel-good activities. They can contribute to better outcomes for youth and for communities. When kids volunteer for community service activities, it opens up their minds to different worlds and teaches them empathy, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.

Volunteering helps teens fill their resumes with robust, real-world experience. That's why colleges and employers look for civically engaged applicants who will thrive in team settings and take on challenging work. During our bootcamps, participants close each day by volunteering in their community.
VIDEO GAMING COMPETITIONS*
Video games give kids a sense of competence, connection, and autonomy that boosts their self-esteem. What might look like a fun waste of time to parents can actually be teaching kids valuable life skills, including problem-solving, how to make and take ownership of choices, and how to control their own behaviors and goals.
Games that are multi-player have the potential to teach kids empathy due to the shared experience of completing the game together. Video games also benefit kids academically. Executive functioning skills like paying attention, planning, and organizing, can also be nurtured by specific games. During our Youth Bootcamps,
we use video games and gaming competitions to teach valuable social and emotional skills while having fun.
